Paniek en agorafobie

Agorafobie is het vermijden van openbare ruimtes. Mensen kunnen angst hebben om naar buiten te gaan, op straat te gaan, naar winkels te gaan, plaatsen waar het druk is etcetera

Ze kunnen dan een paniekaanval krijgen.

Virtual Reality Medical, with offices in the U.S. and Europe, currently uses virtual reality exposure therapy (3-dimensional computer simulation) in combination with physiological monitoring and feedback to treat panic and anxiety disorders. These conditions include specific phobias such as fear of flying, fear of driving, fear of heights, fear of public speaking, fear of thunderstorms, claustrophobia, agoraphobia, arachnophobia, social phobia, panic disorder, and posttraumatic stress disorder due to motor vehicle accidents. General stress management and relaxation skills are taught for stress-related disorders.

Nathalie is agoraphobic and acrophobic, both anxiety disorders, the the former involves fear of places or situations that may cause panic, the latter a pathological fear of heights.
